The incidents, which began on April 22, are directly attributed to the age of the pipelines, some of which are over 25 years old and, in certain sections, have been in service for more than 60 years. The first breakdown occurred due to the rupture of a fiber-cement pipe three meters deep, complicating its repair.
Despite initial efforts to restore supply, up to four ruptures have been recorded in the same area. The complexity of the network and the deterioration of the infrastructure make it impossible to determine an exact date for the complete normalization of service in the affected areas, which include Vuelta Olivares and La Capellanía.
“"Given this situation, both entities have emphasized the need to modernize the supply network and have confirmed that urgent intervention is already underway, exceeding 400,000 euros, to renovate the pipelines in this sector."
To mitigate inconvenience, the City Council and Aqualia have set up an alternative supply system using water tankers to serve residents and establishments. Additionally, they have highlighted the availability of a free SMS alert service, part of the 'Facilita tu número' campaign, which provides real-time information on breakdowns and service restoration in affected areas.
Both entities have reaffirmed their commitment to transparency and constant communication, thanking residents for their understanding and assuring that they will continue to provide timely updates until the service is fully normalized.
