The Ministry of Public Works, Housing and Mobility of the Government of the Canary Islands has provisionally awarded the works for the construction of a fourth lane on the GC-1, as it passes through Telde, with the aim of improving traffic flow and reopening access to La Pardilla.

This intervention will focus on the section between La Estrella and Las Terrazas, an area that currently experiences significant traffic jams due to the high volume of vehicles that travel daily. The provisional award has gone to the UTE formed by the companies Satocan, S.A. and Lopesan Asfaltos y Construcciones, S.A.U.
The project includes the addition of a fourth lane in both directions of the road, thus seeking to increase the structural capacity of the road and optimize connections with the accesses of La Mareta, La Estrella, La Pardilla, and Bocabarranco. A key aspect of the planning is the prioritization of the execution and commissioning of the southbound section and the accesses to La Pardilla, which have remained closed since mid-last year.

"During the contracting procedure, greater weight was given to proposals that included reductions in the execution period, as well as technical solutions that would allow partial openings to traffic during the development of the works."

the Minister of Public Works
The Ministry has highlighted that the works will be carried out under criteria that minimize the impact on a road that supports daily traffic of more than 160,000 vehicles. To this end, work is planned to be carried out at night, in order to reduce traffic disruptions during the day.
