The megacruiser Liberty of the Seas, operated by Royal Caribbean, docked this morning at Vigo's Muelle de Trasatlánticos. Onboard, over 4,000 British passengers are participating in a journey designed to experience the solar eclipse at sea.
The cruise itinerary includes a nine-night route from Southampton, with stops in Bilbao, Gijón, Vigo, A Coruña, and Le Havre. After departing Vigo on Tuesday afternoon, passengers will witness the solar eclipse on Wednesday evening as they sail towards A Coruña, arriving on Thursday.
The slow navigation along the Galician coast on Wednesday will allow guests to fully enjoy the astronomical event. Another large vessel, the Iona, with over 6,000 passengers, is also expected to undertake a themed voyage with the eclipse as its main backdrop this Wednesday.
