The band Koko-Jean & The Tonics, fronted by vocalist Koko-Jean Davis, will open the tenth edition of the Maspalomas Costa Canaria Soul Festival on July 17th at San Agustín Beach, Gran Canaria.

The tenth edition of the Maspalomas Costa Canaria Soul Festival will commence on July 17th with a performance by Koko-Jean & The Tonics. The group, fronted by the charismatic Koko-Jean Davis, who is of Mozambican origin and based in Barcelona, will perform at 8:30 PM on the stage at San Agustín Beach, marking the start of a weekend dedicated to soul music.
With a musical offering that blends soul, rhythm & blues, rock and roll, and funk, Koko-Jean & The Tonics has established itself as a prominent band. After leaving Mozambique, Davis lived in Brazil and the United States before settling in Barcelona. There, she was the vocalist for The Excitements for nearly a decade, until in 2019 she founded her own project with guitarist Dani Baraldés and harmonist Víctor Puertas.
The band's performance will serve as the opening act for a special edition of the festival, which celebrates over a decade of history. The Maspalomas Costa Canaria Soul Festival has become an essential event for the genre in Europe and the largest free soul festival in Spain.
Organized by the San Bartolomé de Tirajana City Council and produced by DD&Company Producciones, the festival will take place from July 17th to 19th at San Agustín Beach. The event will feature open-air concerts and gastronomic options in a family-friendly environment.
Koko-Jean & The Tonics embodies the spirit of the festival with its artistic quality, stage energy, and respect for the roots of African-American music. Their second album, Love child, delves into the purest soul sound and the social and musical atmosphere of the 70s, promising a luxurious start to an edition that will feature major national and international soul artists.
