The historic center of Mogán is preparing to host the San Antonio 'El Chico' Patron Saint Festivities, which commence this Friday, June 5th. The celebrations will kick off at 12:00 PM with the ringing of the bells of the San Antonio de Padua church, and at 7:30 PM, an exhibition of traditional Canarian attire will open in a venue beneath Parque Nicolás Quesada.
The opening speech, which will officially launch the festivities at 8:30 PM in Parque Nicolás Quesada, will be delivered by Pedro Rodríguez, who managed Bar El Laurel for 44 years. Following the speech, the fifteenth edition of the Juan José Rodríguez Sánchez Memorial will take place, featuring performances by folk groups such as Aduares, Los Cantadores, and the Agrupación Folclórica y Cultural El Mocán. The evening will conclude with the 'Noche Joven' (Youth Night) in Plaza Sarmiento y Coto.
On Saturday, June 6th, the main event will be the offering pilgrimage to San Antonio 'El Chico', starting at 6:30 PM from the Los Llanos area. The route will proceed along the main road, through San José, Guardia Juan Martín Quesada, and San Antonio de Padua streets, reaching Parque Nicolás Quesada. This year, sixteen floats and an equal number of folk music groups and ensembles will participate in the offering.
After the pilgrimage, at 7:30 PM, a Canarian mass will be held in the San Antonio de Padua church, sung by the Parranda de las Escuelas Artísticas de Mogán. Afterwards, the saint's image will be carried to Parque Nicolás Quesada, accompanied by A.F Sabinosa.
The Mogán City Council has implemented transport and parking measures to facilitate attendance. The transport company Global will reinforce bus services between Puerto de Mogán and the town center, operating from 4:00 PM on Saturday until 5:00 AM on Sunday. The town's streets will be closed to traffic from 4:00 PM on Saturday, and parking will be restricted in several areas. The use of designated parking lots at the cemetery and in El Cercado is recommended.
The offering pilgrimage will be broadcast live by Televisión Canaria and Radio Televisión Mogán starting at 7:00 PM. The council reminds attendees that wearing traditional Canarian attire is mandatory to participate in the procession.
