More than 150 residents of San Bartolomé de Tirajana have revived the procession of San Fernando el Chico in Maspalomas, a religious event that had not taken place for over two decades.

The town of San Bartolomé de Tirajana has witnessed the revival of the procession of San Fernando el Chico, an event that had not been held for more than 20 years. Over 150 residents, with the support of the City Council and the parish community, participated in the procession of the image from the old hermitage to the parish church, following a mass held in the adjacent park.
The faithful, many dressed in traditional attire as per tradition, accompanied the image, which was accompanied by the Pequeña Estefanía band. Numerous attendees carried bouquets of flowers which they offered to the patron saint at the end of the route.
This religious act, with deep roots in the community, takes place on the eve of the main festival day. This Saturday, the day will culminate with the usual procession after the 11:30 AM mass, followed by a traditional popular fish roast and the 'verbena del solajero' (street party). In the evening, at 8:00 PM, the regional folklore festival of Maspalomas will take place.
