Coach Maxi Barrera faces the challenge of Segunda RFEF with Atlético Paso, aiming to consolidate the club and avoid repeating past mistakes in squad planning.

Following their promotion to Segunda RFEF, coach Maxi Barrera and Atlético Paso's board have begun planning the new sporting project. Barrera, with prior experience in the league, has expressed his determination not to repeat errors from previous seasons.
The club will soon confirm new signings after announcing the departure of 11 players. The squad for the upcoming season will feature only 8 players from the previous year, seeking profiles of ambitious footballers eager to grow.
Barrera acknowledged satisfaction with winning the league title and the Copa Heliodoro but also highlighted the category's difficulty due to intense competition. "This category is very tough for Canary Islands teams," he stated, emphasizing the importance of "strengthening the club's structure, avoiding transfer mistakes, and building a good team."
The coach explained they will look for "hungry footballers" who can contribute to the club's growth, avoiding players seeking a retirement destination. "We are avoiding players who, so to speak, are coming to retire at Atlético Paso," he detailed.
Comparing his experience with Unión Sur Yaiza, Barrera noted, "We cannot go to war with water pistols. We must go, at least, with the same weapons as others," referring to the need to compete with solid projects and adequate resources.
Barrera also reflected on the challenges Canary Islands coaches face in accessing higher leagues on the mainland, calling it a difficult "glass ceiling" to break despite the current high level of training for island coaches.
Finally, the coach expressed support for Tamaraceite in their promotion playoff, calling it "a golden opportunity for Canary Islands football" and expressing confidence that the island team can compete and ascend, overcoming their opponent.
