New parallel parking spaces in Playa Blanca, Lanzarote.

The center of Playa Blanca, in Yaiza, has gained 65 new free parallel parking spaces following the opening of a section of Avenida Papagayo, improving mobility and accessibility.

The Yaiza City Council opened the section of Avenida Papagayo in Playa Blanca between the Iglesia del Carmen and Calle Maciot to vehicle traffic last Friday. This area now features 65 new parallel parking spaces, adding to the free parking available in the center of this tourist town.
This section, which has also undergone a complete renovation of sidewalks and accessibility improvements, is now a one-way street heading towards Las Coloradas. The municipal institution, presided over by Óscar Noda, will also create an additional 35 parking spaces and a loading/unloading zone on the municipal plot behind the church.
These actions are part of the comprehensive rehabilitation project for Avenida Papagayo, which Yaiza is executing in phases with a total investment of 2.6 million euros from its budget. Mayor Óscar Noda stated, "We are satisfying a demand from residents, workers, tourists, and businesses in the center of Playa Blanca who now have these new angled parallel parking spaces, which facilitate vehicle entry and exit as the section is now one-way."
The Councilor for Public Works, Ángel Lago, reported that "work on Avenida Papagayo continues this week between Calle Maciot and Calle Janubio, where we are renovating sidewalks and eliminating architectural barriers, followed by asphalting, to reach the roundabout at Ciudad Jardín, near the Las Coloradas area."
The work program, agreed upon with the contractor Hermanos Tavío Santana, includes the construction of sidewalks, accessibility improvements, asphalting, and complementary works along the entire avenue. Subsequently, the free parking lot behind the church will be built, along with another larger capacity lot with 300 spaces on the municipal esplanade opposite the Princesa Yaiza hotel. All these actions are included in the same project.
