The Yaiza City Council is close to tendering the works for the sports pavilion and covered swimming pools in Playa Blanca, which require an additional investment of 4 million euros after a two-year halt.

The Yaiza City Council is in the final stages of tendering the works for the sports pavilion and covered swimming pools in Playa Blanca. These projects, which have been stalled for almost two years, will require an additional investment of 4 million euros.
The need for this new budget allocation arises after the termination of the agreement with the initial construction company, Levantina Ingeniería y Construcción, due to its insolvency proceedings. Following an exhaustive review of the infrastructure, the necessary amount to resume and complete the project has been determined.
According to the mayor, Óscar Noda, the funding is secured through the use of budget surpluses designated for sports improvements. The tender is expected to be finalized between late July and early August, with the award anticipated in the last quarter of 2026. The execution of the works, lasting at least eight months, could allow the facilities to open between the summer and autumn of 2027.
The tasks will include completing the pending part of the original project, rectifying numerous defects found after expert assessments, and incorporating new proposals such as an outdoor children's playground and a covered ball court. A review of the parking area is also planned.
The management of the facilities, which will include three swimming pools (one 25 meters long), a pavilion, a gym, and rooms for group activities, will be the direct responsibility of the Yaiza City Council. The infrastructure is located in the nerve center of Playa Blanca, near the bus station, facilitating access.
In parallel, 3 million euros will be allocated for improvements to the Playa Blanca football field, including the construction of changing rooms, a social club area, new restrooms, stands, and stadium lighting equipment.
