The decision to postpone the dirt speed event was made after the Tinajo Town Council received a notification warning about the presence of nests of species classified as protected in the Tinajo–Las Betancoras section, a regular part of the Canary Islands Championship.
Organizations such as Ecologistas en Acción Lanzarote, SEO/BirdLife, GREFA, and Desert Watch had expressed their concern, pointing out that the Canary bustard, one of the most endangered birds in the Canary Islands, continuously uses the rally route, posing a "serious risk" to its conservation.
Although the event organizers stated they had all necessary permits and had followed established legal procedures, the emergence of this unforeseen circumstance has forced compliance with biodiversity protection regulations. Municipal and Lanzarote Cabildo technicians evaluated the situation, concluding that holding the event was not viable.
The CD Evesport has regretted the inconvenience caused to participants and fans, especially considering that the event was already fully prepared. Currently, they are working with the Tinajo Town Council and relevant federations to set a new date that ensures compliance with legal and environmental guarantees.
