The Animal Welfare department of the Arona City Council, led by deputy mayor Clari Pérez, presented a recognition plaque to the Acción del Sol shelter. This event celebrates the entity's two decades of work in the protection, care, and welfare of animals.
During the ceremony, held at the shelter's facilities, the trajectory of Acción del Sol since its founding in 2006 was highlighted. The organization has played a fundamental role in the rescue, rehabilitation, and responsible adoption of animals, as well as in raising social awareness about responsible pet ownership.
Acción del Sol has established itself as a benchmark in animal protection in southern Tenerife. Its facilities, spanning over 10,000 square meters, include its own veterinary clinic. From here, the shelter carries out programs for veterinary care, sterilization, animal rehabilitation, and support during adoption processes.
Beyond its welfare work, the shelter dedicates efforts to education and awareness. It organizes activities for educational centers and various groups to foster respect for animals, prevent abandonment, and promote a responsible relationship between citizens and their pets.
The event was attended by several personalities, including the mayor of Arona, Fátima Lemes Reverón; the Councilor for Education, Héctor Reyes; the Councilor for Procurement, Guacimara Tavío; municipal staff; representatives from the Environment department; as well as volunteers, collaborators, and shelter managers.
With this recognition, the Arona City Council reaffirms its commitment to animal protection and its dedication to collaborative work with entities, professionals, and volunteers. The goal is to improve the lives of animals and build a more responsible and sensitive society towards their care.
