The Urban Planning Department of the Arona City Council, led by Javier Baute, has implemented a more agile and efficient management system for urban planning files. This progress is helping to unblock key projects for the municipality's development.
Between February 2025 and June 2026, a total of 181 major construction licenses were granted, with 43 of these being building permits. These authorizations have allowed for the construction of 547 new homes in various parts of Arona, addressing housing needs and the demand for a faster urban administration.
This figure represents a significant improvement compared to the previous five years, during which only five building licenses were issued. The City Council attributes this change to the technical and administrative efforts made to organize files, expedite procedures, and provide timely responses to residents, professionals, and developers.
In addition, the Urban Planning Technical Department has processed 1,622 construction-related files since February 2025, including minor works and other routine urban planning procedures. Of these, 1,125 were handled in 2025 and 497 so far in 2026.
The Activities Section has managed 5,579 files during the same period (3,903 in 2025 and 1,676 in 2026). Furthermore, the Urban Legality and Discipline Protection Area has initiated 903 files for alleged urban planning infractions (536 in 2025 and 367 in 2026).
