The Tenerife Island Council has decided to withdraw the declaration of island interest for the 'Underwater Gardens' marine park project, located on the coast of Guía de Isora.

The president of the island corporation, Rosa Dávila, announced this Wednesday that the measure will be brought to the Plenary next Friday. The initiative, which began processing in 2002 under the previous council, was being developed in an area considered of high ecological value.
Dávila emphasized that the project was located in an "exceptional environment", the Teno Rasca Special Conservation Area, a space that "cannot be replaced or imitated." The president argued that it is not necessary to "artificially transform" this area, which already represents one of the island's "greatest treasures," referring to the Punta Blanca area.
