The artist, winner of OT 2020 and the international section of the Viña del Mar Festival in 2025, shared the news via her social media channels. This will be her second studio album, following PaloSanto, released in October 2023.
As explained by the singer, Romería Negra is a celebration of heartbreak, deeply rooted in the Canary Islands, her homeland and a source of personal and artistic inspiration.
“"Flags hold strong symbolic value: they can generate a sense of identity, belonging, or even emotion in those who feel represented by them."
The album's promotional image features the artist seated against a dark background, holding a flag with eight longitudinal black and orange stripes, and an eight-pointed white star on a black background in the upper left corner. The singer clarified that the eight stripes symbolize each of the Canary Islands.
Furthermore, the artist references the legend of the phantom island of San Borondón, which, in her words, represents love, success, and happiness. This island that “appears and disappears in the Atlantic” reminds her how these feelings also “appear and disappear, but we believe in them.”
