The nightmare of relegation to Primera RFEF, a semi-professional category the club had not been in for 12 years, is now behind Club Deportivo Tenerife. This Friday, the team from Tenerife mathematically secured its return to Segunda División, without needing to play its match against Barakaldo, thanks to Celta Fortuna's defeat against Osasuna Promesas.
The project, which last season suffered an unexpected relegation despite having a squad designed to fight for promotion, was affected by internal conflicts within the club's management. However, in the current 2025/2026 season, Tenerife showed a dominant start in Primera RFEF, with six consecutive victories and seven clean sheets in the first seven matchdays, a historic record in the category that demonstrated their intention to stay there for a short time.
Throughout the campaign, the team managed to overcome difficult matches, though not always with spectacular or entirely effective play, fulfilling the task of accumulating points consistently. CD Tenerife had to contend with the pressure of being the favorite, which often provided extra motivation for their opponents, especially during visits to the Heliodoro stadium.
Since February, the situation has been under control for the team led by the coach, maintaining a considerable lead over Celta Fortuna, their main pursuer. Despite some unexpected errors in recent weeks, which the coach attributed to pressure, the ultimate goal was never in jeopardy.
Less than a year after that traumatic relegation, CD Tenerife celebrates this Friday a collective achievement that not only benefits the squad but has also lifted the spirits of the entire island, which called for a step forward and recognition for the tireless support shown over the years, reflected in the constant attendance of fans at the Heliodoro every week.
