The Canary Islands are preparing for a significant temperature rise due to the influx of air from Africa. The State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) has issued a yellow alert, forecasting that thermometers will surpass 30 degrees Celsius on the island of Tenerife.
Initial forecasts suggested this temperature increase would primarily affect the south and center of Gran Canaria on Thursday, July 30. However, Aemet experts do not rule out that "locally" temperatures could reach 36 degrees Celsius in Tenerife. These extreme temperatures are anticipated in the midlands of the south and southeast of the island, as well as in the low-lying southern areas of the metropolitan area.
