The Museum of Nature and Archaeology (MUNA) will host a gastronomic workshop titled 'Sabores de México' on September 12, 2026, focusing on the history, ingredients, and preparation of traditional recipes.

The Museum of Nature and Archaeology (MUNA), located in Tenerife, will hold a gastronomic workshop titled 'Sabores de México' on September 12, 2026. The event will offer a journey through Mexican cuisine, exploring its ingredients, products, and techniques, along with an introduction to its history and culture.
The workshop, which will have two sessions from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM and from 12:30 PM to 2:30 PM, is designed for 15 people per session and costs 20 euros. Participants will learn about pre-Columbian cuisine and its evolution through mestizaje.
The practical part will include the preparation of traditional recipes such as Guacamole, various Mexican Salsas, Tinga Poblana, dough for Tortillas, and Chocolate Tamales. Aguas Frescas (Jamaica and Tamarind) will also be prepared.
Attendees will enjoy a tasting of the prepared dishes and receive a digital recipe book and printed copies of the recipes to replicate at home. Techniques covered range from product selection and cutting to sofrito, stewing, kneading, and cooking.

The workshop will be led by Armando Saldanha, a 44-year-old chef born in Puebla, Mexico. Saldanha, with an extensive culinary background, has directed several restaurants and was awarded the prize for Best International Cuisine at the Diario de Avisos Gastronomy Awards in 2020.
