The visit of Pope Leo XIV to Tenerife will culminate in a Mass at the Port of Santa Cruz on June 12, 2026, focusing on migration and a dignified life.

The Holy See has released the official missal for the ceremony to be presided over by Pope Leo XIV in Tenerife on June 12, 2026. The event will take place at the Port of Santa Cruz de Tenerife and will be marked by significant social content, addressing realities such as migration and exclusion.
The liturgy, to be held on the solemnity of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, will incorporate specific prayers for those suffering the drama of migration, social exclusion, illness, and poverty. Prayers will also be offered for peace, justice, and the promotion of a dignified life for all, as well as for rulers to act with justice and solidarity.
Unlike the planned celebration in Gran Canaria, the Mass in Tenerife will place special emphasis on social vulnerability and support for those in difficulty. The port setting, historically linked to the movement of people, aims to reinforce the event's large-scale nature.
The celebration will combine Spanish as the primary language, particularly for readings and papal addresses, with moments sung in Latin such as the Gloria, Sanctus, and Agnus Dei. The Vatican document also dedicates a prayer to families, highlighting the transmission of faith and the 'gift of welcome'.
As part of the Local Church, the bishop of San Cristóbal de La Laguna, Eloy Alberto Santiago Santiago, will deliver welcoming remarks to the Holy Father during the final rites of the Mass.
