A man has been sentenced to six years in prison in Tenerife for sexually assaulting an 11-year-old minor whom he contacted and groomed through social media.

A man has accepted a six-year prison sentence in Tenerife after admitting to sexual assault charges against an 11-year-old girl. The accused contacted the minor through a social network, gained her trust, and had sexual relations with her on several occasions. The sentence also includes compensation of 6,000 euros and a fine of 4,000 euros.
In addition to the prison term, he has been prohibited from approaching or communicating with the victim for 13 years. Furthermore, he will be barred from any professional activity involving contact with minors for the next 14 years. The events took place between November 2022 and April 2023, when the man, aware of the girl's age, initiated sexually explicit conversations and obtained pornographic photographs from her.
The minor is suffering from anxiety and depression as a result of the events. The Prosecutor's Office of Santa Cruz de Tenerife had initially sought 13 years in prison, but the sentence was reduced to six years after the accused accepted the charges and the mitigating factor of damage repair was applied, having previously deposited 1,900 euros.
