Beneficiaries of unemployment benefits in Tenerife now know when they will receive this month's payment. Unlike pensions, unemployment benefits are paid during the first few days of the month, typically before the end of the first fortnight. The SEPE is adhering to its usual schedule and has set the payment date for June 10th.
The public agency disburses unemployment benefits and subsidies on the 10th of each month, or the next business day if it falls on a weekend or holiday. In June 2026, the 10th falls on a Wednesday, meaning the administration will issue payment orders on that date without delays.
Although the SEPE processes payments simultaneously, the exact date the money appears in a bank account depends on each financial institution. Some banks advance the deposit, allowing their customers to access the benefit several days earlier. Therefore, while some unemployed individuals will have to wait until the 10th, others might receive the payment during the first week of June.
Indicative payment schedules for banks are as follows: between June 4th and 6th for Banco Santander and Openbank; between June 5th and 9th for Unicaja; from June 10th for BBVA, CaixaBank, Banco Sabadell, Bankinter, and ING; and between June 10th and 11th for Ibercaja. These dates are approximate and may vary.
The reason the SEPE does not pay at the very beginning of the month is due to the system's operation: benefits are paid in arrears, meaning payments in June cover entitlements generated in May. The agency needs to finalize files, review new applications, continuations, or suspensions, and calculate final amounts before issuing payroll. Additionally, new beneficiaries must have their applications approved before the May closing date to be included in the June payroll.
Regulations legally permit benefit payments between the 10th and 15th of each month, although in practice, most payments are resolved from the 10th onwards, or even earlier by banks that advance unemployment benefits.
