The Cabildo of Tenerife has activated extraordinary level 1 preventive measures to reduce fire risk, prohibiting activities such as lighting fires, barbecues, and smoking in risk areas.

Given the persistent high temperatures and low humidity, conditions that favor rapid fire spread, the Insular Department of Natural Environment, Sustainability, Security, and Emergencies has implemented a resolution with level 1 preventive measures. These actions will be applied in risk zones on the island of Tenerife with the aim of minimizing any activity that could trigger a fire.
Until further notice, lighting fires outdoors, including bonfires, barbecues, campfires, and gas stoves, is strictly prohibited. Furthermore, smoking is restricted in recreational areas, campsites, trails, and other public facilities located in risk areas. The use of pyrotechnics and the operation of machinery or tools that may generate sparks have also been temporarily suspended.
While transit through trails and forest tracks, as well as insular and municipal roads, is permitted, the Cabildo strongly recommends avoiding these areas unless access is strictly necessary. In any case, the importance of exercising extreme caution in any activity that could cause a fire is reiterated.

"We are going through a particularly delicate situation and any recklessness can have very serious consequences for Tenerife."

Rosa Dávila · President of the Cabildo of Tenerife
