Spearheaded by the Domingo Pérez Minik Cultural Observatory from the Canary Islands and the ConArte Internacional association from Catalonia, the program runs from April 15 to 18. It features a series of public activities including round tables, training workshops, an exhibition, and a community concert, all taking place in various cultural venues across the capital of Tenerife.
This project is part of the Cultural Rights Plan of the Spanish Ministry of Culture, within its call for initiatives with social impact. Its primary goal is to connect arts with the community, positioning culture as a fundamental right and fostering the development of active and committed citizens through collective creative processes.
Shared Stages is born with the objective of linking the arts with the community and placing culture as a fundamental right.
Among the notable activities, on Friday, April 17, at 7:30 PM, the CajaCanarias Cultural Space will host the round table 'Participating in Cultural Life'. Participants will include Jazmín Beirak, Director General of Cultural Rights at the Ministry of Culture; Esther Ropón, President of the Domingo Pérez Minik Cultural Observatory; artist Ikram Essaghir; Silvia Alonso Fariña, director of Banda Las Candelas; and José Brito, founder of Barrios Orquestados. The session will be moderated by Gemma Carbó, President of ConArte Internacional.
On Saturday, April 18, at 6:00 PM, a community concert will feature artist Ikram Essaghir alongside young performers from the Canary Islands. Essaghir, of Amazigh origin, blends North African and European cultures, exploring themes such as migration and identity. The concert will include members of Banda Las Candelas and Barrios Orquestados, and the premiere of a work by the Tenerife composer Víctor Visuerte, along with performances by DJ Diara Dgy and musician Mohammed Tira.
Concurrently, since April 15, the State Public Library is hosting the exhibition 'Culture(s). Alternatives. Diversity. Rights'. This informative exhibition brings together thirty graphic designers from Latin America and Spain to reflect on cultural rights in the era of globalization, with the collaboration of the Association of Design Professionals and Companies in the Canary Islands (DI-CA).
