The Cabildo of Tenerife anticipates the participation of over 2,000 volunteers this year in the 3rd edition of the "Reconnect with the Tide 2026" campaign, dedicated to preserving the coastline.

The initiative, driven by the Department of Natural Environment, Sustainability, Security, and Emergencies and coordinated by the Office of Environmental Participation and Volunteering (OPVAM), held its central event this Sunday with a large simultaneous waste collection at twelve coastal locations on the island.
Approximately 400 people actively participated in this central day, removing trash and plastics from the beaches. Activities also included awareness sessions on the impact of microplastics in the food chain and the release of recovered sea turtles.
This expansive campaign has grown significantly compared to previous editions. While nearly a thousand people were mobilized in 2025 through 33 specific activities, the 2026 edition has broadened its scope, distributing its action agenda over five consecutive weeks.
