Twelve minors, aged between 11 and 12, who were about to travel to Lanzarote, were transferred to hospitals in Bilbao and Barakaldo after presenting symptoms of mild gastrointestinal distress.

A group of twelve minors, aged between 11 and 12, embarking on an organized trip to Lanzarote, required medical attention after exhibiting symptoms consistent with a mild gastrointestinal issue at Loiu airport in Vizcaya.
While waiting to board, several of the minors began to experience vomiting and dizziness. In response, emergency services from the Basque Health Service, Osakidetza, dispatched ambulances to the airfield.
Following an initial on-site assessment, and as a precautionary measure, twelve minors were transported by ambulance to Cruces hospital (in Barakaldo) and Basurto hospital (in Bilbao) for more thorough evaluation. Half of the affected children were treated at each facility.
Osakidetza has reported that the initial patients assessed have been classified with mild symptoms, and their condition is not considered serious. The chaperones accompanying the group are asymptomatic.
Pediatric emergency services are investigating the potential origin of the illness, which could be viral or foodborne, given the number of cases. The situation is being managed normally and has not required the activation of extraordinary measures.
