Operation Tonfa TF, carried out by the Civil Guard's Fiscal and Border Analysis and Investigation Unit (UDAIFF) at Tenerife South Airport, has led to the arrest or investigation of 92 individuals. They are accused of committing a total of 102 theft offenses at the same retail store.
The stolen goods, primarily high-end perfumes and cartons of tobacco, are valued at 87,237 euros. The investigation revealed that the members of the criminal groups used a consistent modus operandi to commit these crimes.
This method involved entering establishments in groups of two or more. While some acted as lookouts, others concealed the items in bags and backpacks before leaving the store with the stolen merchandise.
Thanks to the support of Civil Guard units at other airports, the 92 accused individuals have been identified, located, and either arrested or investigated in Seville, Barcelona, Malaga, Madrid, Gran Canaria, Fuerteventura, and Elche. Consequently, two criminal groups dedicated to these thefts have been dismantled, and stolen goods valued at over 45,000 euros have been recovered.
The compiled proceedings, along with the arrested and investigated individuals, have been handed over to the Courts of Plaza de Granadilla de Abona.
