Residents of Naranjo Agrio, in Valleseco, can now park their vehicles next to their homes again after five months of improvement works and slope stabilization, carried out after a wall collapsed due to Storm Therese.

The incident occurred on March 25th, when Storm Therese caused a wall to collapse in the Naranjo Agrio neighborhood, in the upper part of Valleseco. The domino effect of several cars falling left about ten families unable to park next to their homes.
The improvement works, carried out by the Infrastructure and Works department of the Santa Cruz de Tenerife City Council, have restored safety and peace of mind to the residents. The mayor, José Manuel Bermúdez, along with councilor Javier Rivero and district head Gladis de León, visited the affected areas in Valleseco and Valle Luis.
In Valleseco, the main project, with a budget of 320,000 euros, focuses on slope stabilization and the rehabilitation of the vehicular access. The work, undertaken by Freyssinet, S.A. and supervised by Cívica Ingenieros, is expected to be completed in August.
In Valle Luis, 220,000 euros have been invested in fixing the slope and improving pedestrian access, with the cooperation of a private landowner who ceded land. These works, executed by Señalizaciones Tenerife, S.L., will conclude by the end of September.
Councilor Javier Rivero highlighted the importance of community collaboration and landowners' willingness to expedite the works and restore peace of mind to those affected, emphasizing the commitment to save homes and guarantee the right to live in the hamlets of Anaga.
Other completed interventions in Anaga include the restoration of retaining walls and reinforcement of lateral protection in Azano-Portugal-Lomo Lirios (Taganana), with an investment of 204,789 euros by Conacon, and the reconstruction of the access to Acapulco beach (44,994 euros).
These projects are part of the Santa Cruz de Tenerife City Council's plan to restore municipal infrastructure and protect the population against extreme weather phenomena, prioritizing mobility and resident safety.
