The Tenerife Barber Expo, held at the Tenerife Fairgrounds in Santa Cruz, brought together 16 promising young barbers as part of the Tenerife International Fashion Week (SIMTE). Participants had 45 minutes to showcase their dexterity, cleanliness, and creativity in haircuts, facing a demanding jury and challenging conditions such as heat and the venue's lighting.
Said Allal, Alberto Coello, and Lara González took the top three spots, respectively. González, the sole female competitor and representing BlueOcean Barber (San Andrés), secured third place. The competition, organized by the Nuevo Stylo e Imagen school, aimed to pave the way for these young individuals in an increasingly competitive profession.
The event, held in the Caja Negra (Black Box) area of the fairgrounds, featured live shows, masterclasses, and the participation of renowned professionals. Judges, including Ara Estévez and Laura Morales, praised the contestants' "very high level," emphasizing the experience as a significant opportunity for their future careers.
The event also included the Pro-Barbers battle for established professionals, where Adrián Concepción claimed the top prize. Additionally, the Urban Zone hosted the Show Barber with national and international figures such as Oche Barber and Ismael de Mora, sharing industry trends.
Efraín Medina, insular counselor for Employment and Education of the Cabildo de Tenerife, highlighted the event's importance in professionalizing the sector and serving as a platform for young talent. The International Fashion Week thus concluded its edition, distributing its activities between the Urban Zone and the Caja Negra.
