The Cabildo de La Palma has awarded the construction of the new clean point in Los Pedregales, Los Llanos de Aridane, with an investment of 356,249.99 euros to strengthen selective waste collection in the area.

This action represents a significant step forward in the reorganization of waste services in the Aridane Valley. The new facility, with a two-month execution period, aims to provide a more suitable infrastructure for selective collection and improve service accessibility for residents in the west of the island.

"This project addresses an urgent need to improve selective collection in Los Llanos de Aridane, strengthening the island's waste network and offering a more accessible service adapted to current needs."

The island institution frames this initiative within its strategy to modernize public facilities and reinforce waste management. The current provisional service in Los Llanos de Aridane was established in March 2022, after the Callejón de la Gata facility was destroyed by the volcanic eruption, operating with a temporary solution ever since.
The project not only seeks environmental improvement but is also linked to the reorganization of other public lands and facilities in Los Llanos de Aridane. The new clean point will free up the currently occupied plot, facilitating the administrative development of the future Los Llanos de Aridane Residence at that location.
The commitment to new clean points aligns with current legal and environmental requirements, such as Law 7/2022, on waste and contaminated soils for a circular economy. This regulation promotes a more efficient model in prevention, reuse, and recycling, obliging administrations to reinforce infrastructures for more effective and local management. The Cabildo de La Palma already has operational clean points in Breña Baja and Puntallana, and the incorporation of Los Pedregales will expand this network, strengthening coverage in one of the island's most populated areas.
