The Mayor of Candelaria, Mari Brito, highlighted the positive reception of the camps, noting that the expanded offerings and bringing activities closer to educational centers and family residences facilitated minors' access to educational leisure programming, contributing to family work-life balance.
Among this year's new features are the expansion of places and the decentralization of the Children's Camp, which for the first time took place in the municipality's five educational centers: CEIP Punta Larga, CEIP Príncipe Felipe, CEIP Araya, CEIP Igueste, and CEIP Carmen Álvarez de la Rosa, in Barranco Hondo. The Youth Camp, aimed at individuals aged 12 to 17, was held at the Punta Larga Youth Zone and in various outdoor spaces.
Registrations were made in fortnightly periods, with 440 places available per period, offering a total of 1,760 places, of which 1,392 were filled, with July being the month of highest demand. Added to this is the Inclusive Camp, with an average participation of 11 minors per fortnight.
The Councillor for Education and Youth, Maeva Tendero, positively assessed the development of the camps, aimed at minors between 3 and 17 years old. A varied program was offered with recreational, sports, and educational activities, aiming to foster holiday enjoyment, social relationships, coexistence, and values such as respect, cooperation, and autonomy.
