The execution of the comprehensive renovation project for the La Cruz Santa sports center in Los Realejos began last May. This initiative, part of the Municipal Sports Infrastructure Program, has a self-funded investment of €324,669.17, financed through the ‘Barrios Plan’.
The mayor of Los Realejos, Adolfo González, and the deputy mayor of La Cruz Santa and Councilor for Public Works, Darío Pérez, recently visited the works. González highlighted that this is one of the year's largest investments, a much-demanded project that not only repairs the sports facility but also addresses its waterproofing to resolve the humidity and leakage problems affecting the premises of the La Cruz Santa Sociocultural Center, located beneath the court.
Darío Pérez detailed that, in addition to waterproofing and providing new flooring, the seating and changing rooms will be renovated, the perimeter fencing replaced, and sports equipment replenished. The access area to the facility will also be conditioned, along with complementary improvements to the lower-level premises and the building's facade.
Adolfo González emphasized that the works will also enable a complete floor of the building to be adapted for toilets and changing rooms, with the aim that, upon completion, the space can be used not only as a public sports center but also as potential infrastructure for sports clubs in the municipality.
The Municipal Sports Infrastructure Program of Los Realejos continues with other actions, including the recent renovation of the La Montaña sports center, the creation of the island's first public pump track, the renovation of the skatepark at Basilio Labrador Complex, the construction of the La Siega sports center in Icod el Alto, and two new multi-purpose buildings and restrooms within the Los Príncipes Stadium.
