The Puerto de la Cruz City Council has unveiled its cultural program for 2026, an extensive calendar of festivals aiming to position the city as an artistic and meeting hub.
The planning goes beyond merely accumulating events; it responds to a comprehensive strategy that views festivals as essential tools for cultural access, creating spaces for dialogue, and generating knowledge. This approach ensures the exercise of cultural rights through diversity, accessibility, and citizen participation.

"This calendar reflects a way of understanding culture as an active part of the city's present and future. We are not talking about a sum of isolated events, but a program that projects identity, generates value for Puerto de la Cruz, and reinforces its role as a meeting place for citizens and visitors alike."
The month of May will be particularly intense, highlighting the MUECA International Street Art Festival, held from May 7 to 10, transforming public spaces into stages for circus, theater, dance, and music. This will be followed by Constelación Escénica, from May 19 to 22, featuring an inclusive proposal for artists with functional diversity. In June, Veranos del Taoro, from June 18 to 20, will bring performing arts to the natural setting of Taoro Park.
Music will play a central role throughout the year, starting with Up&Down from May 14 to 18, dedicated to jazz and world music. The Canarias Jazz & Más International Festival will take place from July 23 to 25, established as one of the archipelago's most important events. In September, the Phe Festival, on September 4 and 5, will solidify its position as a benchmark for contemporary music and urban creativity. International Music Day will be celebrated on October 2 and 3, and autumn will conclude with Ritmos Handmade from November 12 to 15, focusing on percussion, and the Puerto de la Cruz Bach Festival between November and December.
Cinema and literature will also have their dedicated spaces. The DoCanarias – International Film Festival will run from September 7 to 13, offering documentary cinema for social reflection. In October, the Periplo International Travel and Adventure Literature Festival, from October 19 to 25, will turn the city into a literary exchange point. Finally, DLIBRO, from November 17 to 21, will focus on publishing processes and the meeting between industry professionals and readers.

"One of the strengths of this calendar is its ability to unfold in dialogue with the city. Much of the programming finds a natural place for encounter in public spaces, bringing culture closer to daily life and allowing very different festivals to build a diverse, close, and connected cultural experience."
This annual program aims to build an interconnected cultural system, where each project contributes to an articulated structure that fosters relationships between cultural agents, shared knowledge, and the construction of a community narrative. The Culture Department acts as a strategic axis, ensuring that culture is a stable, creative, participatory, and long-term process.
