The owner of the emblematic establishment, Elena Parrilla, indicated that the business was temporarily closed on the morning of June 17 due to media attention generated by reports of alleged permit irregularities.
According to the business's account, there is currently no formal resolution from the capital's City Council demanding the suspension of operations. For this reason, the premises resumed normal functioning on the afternoon of the same day.
The controversy arose after local media reports suggested possible administrative non-compliance, claims that the owner refutes, maintaining that the establishment operates as long as there is no definitive closure order.
Activity observed inside the premises on Monday reinforces the confectionery's stance that there is no current order for closure or suspension of activity.
Elena Parrilla has defended the establishment's heritage and sentimental value, describing it as a historic city business that, in her view, deserves differentiated treatment and protective measures to ensure its continuity.
She also called for consideration of the uniqueness of traditional businesses within the urban fabric, especially those with decades of history.
