The promenade next to Plaza de España will be the setting for this exhibition, running from 12:00 to 18:30 hours. It will feature the most outstanding images from the rapid photography competition, held on April 25, which saw the participation of over 200 photographers of all ages.
This commemorative edition has attracted both local talents from Gran Canaria and Tenerife, as well as international participants from countries like Germany, Italy, Ukraine, Chile, and Cuba. A spokesperson for the Las Palmas de Gran Canaria city council expressed satisfaction with the contest's growth and global reach.
“"It is a source of pride to see how the contest has grown and attracts talent from different parts of the world."
The rapid photography format of the contest challenged participants to capture images within a limited time, following six surprise themes: "I should have taken more photos," "Youth Fashion," "Against the Current," "Small Things," "With Height," and "I Saw a Light." Each theme was complemented by a musical proposal, enriching the creative experience.
“"This format fosters participants' ability to improvise and immediate creativity."
The public will have the opportunity to view at least one photograph from each contestant, presented in 20 x 30 centimeter format on stands installed by the Association of Business Owners of the Mesa y López Commercial Zone. This initiative aims to bring photographic art closer to the urban environment, sparking interest from both artists and enthusiasts.
The awards ceremony and jury's decision will take place at 18:00 hours, distributing a total of 4,700 euros. A prize for the Best Photographic Series, sponsored by Cajasiete, will recognize the joint interpretation of the six themes. The senior category will award the best individual images, while the junior category will feature ten prizes supported by local and national companies.
Additionally, all participants attending the event organized by the Mesa y López Zone Association will receive a free photography or video course, courtesy of Duke Fotografía, and will be entered into a raffle for gifts offered by Ad7 Islas and Duke.
