Emalsa will begin a new intervention on the sanitation network of Olof Palme street this Monday, August 3rd. These works will focus on number 46 of the street and will extend until Wednesday, August 5th, affecting the left lane in the direction of traffic.
Although the central and right lanes will remain operational, the reduction in capacity could cause occasional traffic jams on this important road connecting to Mesa y López, Néstor de la Torre, and the paseo de Chil. The intervention will not impact the water supply to homes and businesses in the area.
This intervention occurs five months after a similar incident in March, when a sinkhole forced the closure of two lanes. On that occasion, a break in a sewer pipe was found, causing the roadbed to collapse and leading to significant traffic congestion. The repair work for that incident lasted three days.
The current intervention is considered to have a lesser impact as two of the three lanes will remain available. EMALSA has not established any connection between these new works and the previously repaired sinkhole.
