The Naval Command of the Canary Islands organized an open day at the Naval Museum in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, as part of the VII Historical Day of the Navy, which this year pays tribute to the 5th centenary of the mariner Álvaro de Bazán.

The initiative took place on Sunday, May 3rd, from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM, at the facilities located at the entrance of the Las Palmas de Gran Canaria Arsenal. This activity is part of the celebration of the VII Historical Day of the Navy, whose central theme is the figure of Álvaro de Bazán, highlighting his relevance in Spanish naval power.
In addition to museum visits, the day included the traditional general dressing of Navy ships and dependencies. The commemoration extends with other events, such as the conference titled D. Álvaro de Bazán and the Galleys in the 16th and 17th Centuries, which will be given on Wednesday, May 6th, at 6:00 PM at the Alberto Hernández Rubio Naval Museum, with free admission until full capacity is reached.
Finally, on Friday, May 8th, at 6:30 PM, a Flag Oath ceremony for civilian personnel will take place. This event will be presided over by the Admiral Commander of the Naval Command of the Canary Islands and will be held in the Plaza de la Constitución in the Gran Canarian municipality of Agaete.
