The Contentious-Administrative Court No. 1 of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria has declared executed the sentence that affected the selection process for the 33 Local Police positions in Telde, deeming the actions taken by the City Council and the Qualifying Tribunal correct in complying with the judicial ruling issued in October 2025.
Through an Order dated May 25, 2026, the magistrate agreed to declare the sentence duly executed and ordered the closure of the execution file, concluding that the municipal administration acted lawfully by modifying the practical test's scoring as judicially established.
The judicial resolution rejects the allegations made by the appellant, who argued that the City Council had introduced a new correction system not provided for in the call for applications. However, the court considers it proven that the Qualifying Tribunal correctly executed the sentence by eliminating the score awarded to an incorrect answer and subsequently applying a mathematical rescaling of scores to preserve the principles of equality, merit, and capacity among all applicants.
Likewise, the order recalls that the sentence already expressly stated that its execution could not prejudice third parties acting in good faith who had passed the selection process, thus supporting the actions developed by the Telde City Council in recent months. With this judicial pronouncement, the Consistory now has the necessary legal certainty to definitively conclude a call that has allowed the reinforcement of the Local Police force with 33 new officers.
Upon learning of the resolution, the Department of Human Resources has begun preparing the necessary files to proceed with the appointment of the officers as career civil servants. Once the mandatory audit by the Municipal Audit Office is completed, the corresponding appointments will be signed and the definitive taking of office will occur.
