The decision by the Gran Canaria club was communicated this Monday, ending the tenure of the coach who had led Las Palmas Atlético for the last three of his six seasons with the entity. His departure follows a streak of three consecutive defeats, which have left the team in eleventh place in the standings.
The yellow reserve team currently has 38 points, just one point above the relegation playoff spots. This situation has led the sports management to seek a turnaround to secure their league status, which the team had regained a year ago under the outgoing coach's leadership.
“"The club's management has opted for a change in the dugout for the final two matchdays of the competition, aiming to secure their position in the league."
To take charge of the team for this final stretch, the club has turned to an experienced coach from within the organization, with a distinguished career both with the first team and in the youth academy. This new leader will manage the remaining fixtures, which include a home match against Orihuela and an away game against the bottom-placed Yugo Socuéllamos, who have already been relegated to Tercera Federación.
