The calima will persist this Sunday in the Canary archipelago, especially in mid-altitude areas and peaks of the mountainous islands, with temperatures that could exceed 30ºC in Tenerife and the eastern islands.

According to the latest forecast from the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet), skies will be mostly clear, although intervals of medium and high clouds are not ruled out in the early hours, with the possibility of light rains and some thunderstorms in the central islands.
Temperatures will be high, potentially exceeding 30ºC in the mid-altitude areas of Tenerife and in the eastern islands. It is even expected that temperatures could locally reach 34ºC in the interior and west of the latter. The wind will blow from the east in low areas, shifting to the west in the western islands by the end of the day, while in the peaks and mid-altitude areas of the mountainous islands, it will be from the south, with probable very strong gusts.
For Monday, the day in the Canary Islands will begin with abundant medium and high cloudiness, which will tend to clear throughout the day. Temperatures will rise in the eastern islands and fall in the western ones. Maximums of 28ºC are expected in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria and up to 30ºC in Santa Cruz de Tenerife. The wind will be moderate and variable, with very intense gusts from the south in high areas of Tenerife and La Palma, and occasionally in La Gomera and Gran Canaria.
