Princess Leonor visited the Basilica of Nuestra Señora del Pino in Teror, Gran Canaria, as a cadet from the General Air and Space Academy (AGA) during her end-of-course trip.

Princess Leonor visited the Basilica of Nuestra Señora del Pino in Teror on Tuesday morning. Her presence, as a cadet from the General Air and Space Academy (AGA), generated significant anticipation among the residents of the Marian town. Following a protocol meeting between Academy authorities and the Teror City Council, the cadets took a photograph in front of the Basilica and enjoyed a guided tour of the Historic Center, showing particular interest in the local history and monuments, as well as the devotion to the Virgen del Pino.
This visit is part of the end-of-course trip program for the 4th-year cadet promotion of the AGA, based in San Javier. The group, consisting of 72 male and female students and led by Colonel Ajenjo, was received by the mayor of Teror, José Agustín Arencibia, accompanied by the deputy mayor, Sergio Nuez, the basilica's parish priest, Jorge Martín de la Coba, and other municipal representatives.
It is a tradition for AGA students to visit Teror and the Basilica of El Pino during their study trip to Gran Canaria. The stay on the island, which began last Sunday, June 14, and will extend until Friday, June 19, also includes visits to military facilities in Gando, bunkers, Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, and the radar station in San Mateo, in addition to time to enjoy the beach. This activity is part of the academic and military calendar to conclude a key training stage.
Princess Leonor participated in the visit as just another student of the Academy, in her capacity as a cadet. The Royal Household had requested that the agenda remain private, with no public announcements or press invitations. Although this is her first visit to Teror, it is not her first time in Gran Canaria; she previously visited in January 2025 during her military training aboard the training ship Juan Sebastián de Elcano, with a stopover in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria.
After completing her training at the AGA, Princess Leonor will begin her Bachelor's degree in Political Science at the Universidad Carlos III in Madrid next September. The future pilots, including some from the Canary Islands, are completing their end-of-course trip in Gran Canaria, visiting military units and enjoying the island's attractions.
