A canoe carrying approximately 150 people has issued a distress call about 30 miles southeast of the island of El Hierro, mobilizing Maritime Rescue teams for their assistance.

The alert was received at 4:24 PM, when Maritime Rescue was notified by a call made directly from the vessel. The signal was picked up by an antenna located in the Hierro village of San Andrés, as confirmed by rescue organization sources.
Immediately after receiving the call, an emergency operation was activated. This operation involves the Helimer 205 helicopter and the Salvamar Diphda vessel, which are heading towards the canoe's position to assist those on board.
The situation highlights the ongoing migratory pressure on the Atlantic route to the Canary Islands, where precarious vessels often face extreme conditions and require urgent intervention to ensure the safety of their occupants.
