The mayor of Arrecife, Yonathan de León Machín, signed the decree this morning by which the city joins the official mourning decreed in Spain. As a measure, official flags at the Town Hall of the capital of Lanzarote have been flying at half-mast since today until 00:00 on November 1st.
In the Mayor's decree, all activities organized or promoted by the Arrecife City Council during these three days of mourning are also suspended.
The city of Arrecife observed a minute of silence last night in memory of the victims of the train accident in the province of Toledo, in line with the call across Spain organized by the Spanish Federation of Municipalities and Provinces (FEMP).
The activity of the Traditional Market in Plaza de Las Palmas will continue, as it is attended by the stallholders for the promotion of local agricultural products, considered sales of agri-food products.
The Arrecife City Council will inform about possible new dates for the events planned for this weekend, such as the Noche de los Finaos or Halloween, among others, which were organized by different Municipal Areas.
