The judge of Court nº 3 of the Arrecife Court of Instance has issued a ruling archiving the proceedings against the officials of the Arrecife City Council concerning the 'La Machacadora de Argana' case. The complaint had been filed by Andrés Medina, representative of the neighborhood association (Asociación Colectivo contra la Delincuencia Galguen), and the Seprona.
Through a provision signed on October 20, 2026, the magistrate agrees to incorporate the additional documentation from the complaint filed on October 6 by Deprona and maintains the provisional dismissal and archiving of the case. The judge's decision is not to reopen the case or order the investigations requested by the complainant, who, according to the statement, has been spreading 'false accusations' against Mayor Yonathan de León, councilor Kevin Cortés, and municipal technicians.
Mayor Yonathan de León has expressed his respect for the judicial proceedings that have concluded with the archiving of this case, emphasizing that the Arrecife City Council proceeded with the dismantling of the aforementioned crusher during this term. 'Citizens should know about this case closure, and I hope that, clearly, the same media and the complainant will cease their distorting and manipulative actions,' the mayor demanded, calling for a retraction from those who spread 'false accusations'.
The ruling from last June already considered that the commission of the crime that motivated the judicial procedure was not duly justified, indicating that issues related to compliance with the cessation of activity of the crusher should be addressed in the existing criminal enforcement. The mayor reaffirms his commitment to municipal management, stating that his responsibility is to act with rigor and attend to the needs of Arrecife.
