The Fuerteventura Insular Tourism Board participated in the VI Turespaña Convention in Zaragoza to enhance the island's profile in key European markets and explore joint actions with autonomous communities.
The Fuerteventura Insular Tourism Board participated this week in the VI Turespaña Convention, held in Zaragoza from October 20th to 22nd. The event, themed “Do you speak global? International tourism as a lever for transformation”, is the main annual gathering for Spanish tourism organized by Turespaña, bringing together destinations, companies, and institutions to define international promotion strategies. Fuerteventura's delegation included the vice-president and Minister of Tourism of the Cabildo, Marlene Figueroa, and the director-manager of the Board.
The Board's participation focused on bilateral meetings held on October 20th with the tourism counselors in the exterior of Austria, Germany, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, Switzerland, and Sweden. The aim was to define action lines to increase awareness of Fuerteventura as a destination in these source markets, including organizing familiarization trips for tourism professionals who can act as island advocates in their home markets.
The convention also served to strengthen ties with Euskadi, Galicia, Asturias, Andalusia, Madrid, and Catalonia, autonomous communities with which Fuerteventura has direct air connections. During the meetings, potential joint promotion actions were discussed to leverage these connections and encourage traveler arrivals to the island.
“
"The Turespaña Convention is a space for direct work with those who know each source market best. Agreeing on joint actions with the tourism counselors abroad allows us to reach industry professionals with greater precision and effectiveness."
“
"Fuerteventura is committed to qualitative growth, and any action that strengthens the island's regular air connectivity with European markets is strategic for the destination. That is exactly what we have worked on this week in Zaragoza."
The contacts made in Zaragoza will allow for the continuation of joint work with tourism representatives abroad and the autonomous communities to develop promotion actions targeting Fuerteventura's source markets.
