Early Tuesday morning, Arrecife, in Lanzarote, was shaken by a series of fires that incinerated 13 containers and one car, while also damaging six other vehicles.

The incidents took place between 00:00 and 02:00 hours on different streets of the capital of Lanzarote, including areas such as La Carmen, La Niña, Fernando Católico, Isleño, Castillo de Las Coloradas, and Yagabo. The causes of these fires remain unknown.
The Councilor for Cleaning, Jacobo Lemes, stated that the events are under investigation and denounced the severe economic damage caused by these acts. According to his statements, the removal and replacement of each destroyed container costs approximately 2,000 euros, bringing the total cost for the burned containers to about 26,000 euros of public money, not including vehicle damage or mobilized emergency resources.
Lemes emphasized the need not to normalize situations that create insecurity, damage common heritage, and divert public funds that could be invested in improving city services.
