CB Gran Canaria parts ways with Willy Villar as sporting director

The club has decided not to renew the contract of the island director after six seasons in charge of the sports department.

Club Baloncesto Gran Canaria has announced that Willy Villar will not continue as sporting director, a position he held since the summer of 2020.

The executive, who joined the yellow club in the summer of 2020, will not continue leading the sports department for the 2026-2027 season. During his six years at the club, the first team reached the league playoffs five times, the Copa del Rey three times, and won the 7Days EuroCup in the 22-23 campaign, in addition to being continental runner-up in 24-25.
The club has expressed gratitude to Willy Villar for his services during his tenure and wished him the best of luck in his future personal and professional endeavors.
