The Governing Council of the Cabildo de Gran Canaria has greenlit the annual subsidy call for 2026, driven by the Social Policy department. This initiative aims to promote social inclusion in Gran Canaria through projects by non-profit entities, with a total of 600,000 euros allocated.
The purpose of these grants is to co-finance social projects at the island level that align with the principles of prevention, normalization, and social inclusion. Interested organizations can submit their proposals once the call is published in the Official Gazette of the Province (BOP).
The subsidized projects must contribute to the inclusion of vulnerable individuals, particularly those facing social disadvantage due to age, disability, or chronic illness. The goal is to support their continued stay in their homes and usual social and family environments, preventing or delaying institutionalization.
Furthermore, actions targeting individuals at risk of social exclusion, including comprehensive prevention and care measures, will be supported. Initiatives for addiction prevention in school and community settings, through workshops and group dynamics promoting healthy lifestyles, will also receive backing.
To be eligible for these subsidies, non-profit entities must have their permanent headquarters in Gran Canaria, be registered in the relevant sector registries for at least two years, and possess the necessary structure and technical capacity to execute the projects.
In 2025, the Cabildo de Gran Canaria, through the Ministry of Social Policy and Accessibility, already subsidized 17 non-profit entities to promote social inclusion on the island.
