The KM.0 Fair held in Fontanales, Moya, has drawn 7,500 people this weekend, exceeding last year's attendance by 1,200 visitors and reaffirming the rise in proximity product consumption.

The locality of Fontanales transformed over two days into a vibrant hub for the sale and promotion of local agri-food products. More than 45 producers from various municipalities of Gran Canaria participated, offering a wide range of island products and elaborations, with a special space dedicated to the specialties of the Villa de Moya.
The notable increase in attendance, amounting to 1,200 more people than the previous edition, underscores the growing importance of this fair within the municipality's summer calendar. This figure, along with the participation of producers from across the island, has become a key indicator of the event's success.

"It is very important for Moya, and specifically for Fontanales, to become a showcase for our products and the talent of those who work and produce on our island."

Raúl Afonso · Mayor of Villa de Moya
The Mayor of Villa de Moya, Raúl Afonso, highlighted the fair's significance as a platform to showcase local agri-food potential and talent. Meanwhile, the councilor for the area, Belén Rivero, described the visitor increase as "magnificent news," stating it "reflects the existing interest in knowing and consuming proximity products."
The organization envisions the KM.0 Fair as a connection point between producers and consumers, with local produce at its core. The Fontanales edition has also served to raise the profile of Gran Canaria's agri-food sector and the elaborations that define Moya's productive identity.
The initiative is supported by the Ayuntamiento de la Villa de Moya, the Department of Economic Development of the Cabildo de Gran Canaria, Turismo de Gran Canaria, Cajasiete, the Government of the Canary Islands, Volcanic Xperience, GMR Canarias, and Gran Canaria Mosaico. Furthermore, it is integrated into the Dinamiza Rural project, aimed at revitalizing municipalities with fewer than 10,000 inhabitants.
