The visit of Pope Leo XIV to Gran Canaria is approaching, and the Canary Islands company El Paraguas Events is in charge of designing and equipping the private spaces for the pontiff and his entourage at the Estadio de Gran Canaria. Unlike the elaborate requests of artists such as Elton John or Marc Anthony, the requirements for the papal dressing room have been remarkably modest.
Israel Ortega, manager of El Paraguas Events, highlighted the surprise at the simplicity of the requests. "We are very accustomed to artists with oversized productions and receiving 'riders' with long lists of demands. In this case, there has been none of that," he stated. The space will be characterized by the color white and will feature the essentials: an armchair, a table for personal belongings, a coat rack, and a mirror.
The operation at the stadium will include, in addition to the papal dressing room, areas for his entourage and an ecclesiastical zone that will function as a sacristy for bishops and celebrants. Approximately 300 people are expected to attend, including civil and ecclesiastical authorities. The company is working with "great enthusiasm" on a project they describe as "unique and historic."
“"They asked for it to be all white, small, very simple and humble. It will have an armchair to rest, a table to place personal belongings, a coat rack, and a mirror. Little more."
El Paraguas Events, specializing in VIP spaces and top-tier events, has previously collaborated with institutions such as the Government of the Canary Islands and the Cabildo of Gran Canaria, in addition to equipping dressing rooms and VIP areas for renowned international artists.
