The incident occurred around 1:23 PM heading north. Upon receiving the alert, the Emergency and Security Coordination Center (CECOES 112) mobilized health and security resources to assist those affected at kilometer 7 of the road.
Personnel from the Gran Canaria Emergency Consortium carried out extraction work to free one person trapped inside their vehicle. Once released, they were assisted by the Canarian Emergency Service (SUC).
The three injured were transported to hospitals. A 45-year-old woman, suffering from severe polytrauma, was admitted in critical condition to the Insular University Hospital. Another 79-year-old woman was taken to the Doctor Negrín University Hospital, while a 54-year-old man was taken to the Insular University Hospital with moderate injuries.
The Civil Guard is in charge of traffic regulation and investigating the circumstances of the accident. Meanwhile, Road Service personnel worked on clearing and marking the road to restore normal traffic flow on this major island connection.
