The meeting brought together the 76 members of the Educational Inspection of the Canary Islands at the facilities of the former IES San Marcos. It was led by the Vice-Minister of Education, José Manuel Cabrera, and the General Inspector of Education, Marcos Rodríguez, and included the participation of the Vice-Minister of Vocational Training, Francisco Rodríguez Machado, who closed the event.
General Inspector Marcos Rodríguez explained that the annual plan details work lines such as administrative simplification and the supervision of school coexistence. Actions will be carried out in different inspection zones to understand the real coexistence in Canary Islands schools and propose improvements.
Another key objective is the supervision of teaching practices, focusing on reading comprehension and problem-solving, fundamental pillars that have been developed for three academic years. The Educational Inspection will continue to focus on classroom work to improve student learning.
Improving reading comprehension and mathematical skills are priorities, given the challenges faced by the Canary Islands according to the PISA 2025 report. The Inspection will continue the work initiated in 2023 to reinforce these competencies through training and teaching practice supervision.
Administrative simplification is another work line aimed at reducing the bureaucratic burden on management teams and teachers, allowing them to dedicate more time to educational attention. The document aligns with the Ministry's objectives of quality, equity, and educational inclusion.
The plan establishes quarterly and annual monitoring and evaluation mechanisms to verify the degree of compliance with planned actions, identify potential difficulties, and improve work procedures.
